Sorry to hear about the passing of Norman. Although I did not know Norman well, I remember him because he made a positive impression with me. He dressed well, always had a smile, & seemed to enjoy life.
God be with him!

It has been many years since I last talked to Norman. I met him when he was only a 15 year old bass player whose mastery of the instrument was uncanny for someone so young. We hired him immediately for our R&B group "The Contrails." No one can forget Norman's iconic bass intro to our hit record "Someone." I remember him sitting at the band table on breaks using the lighted table candle like a crystal ball and pretending to tell our fortunes. When I became conductor for "The Skyliners," I hired him to play bass because of his innate ability to fill in any empty spots in the arrangements since we sometimes would work without brass or strings. I remember him even ad libbing the string parts on bass. Norman would entertain us all backstage with his bass rendition of "Flight of the Bumblebee" calling it "Flight of the Elephant." Many times I could not stop laughing at his own version of lyrics to a song. He had a wonderful sense of humor. If God's test is to leave this world a better place then I am sure my old friend has passed it with flying colors. I pray that God grant comfort to all in Norman's extended family.

It's been many years since I lost touch with Dinky, Dick, Jack, John and Carl. Great guys, great band, from a great time in a great town!! I'll never forget the blue metal flake Kustom amps they used! Many fond memories. So sorry to learn of Norman's passing. My condolences to his family.

Norman was my first Husband. Divorce is never easy, but we had a mutual respect. I don't think divorce should define who we loved and how we grieve. For death is no more than a turning of us over from time to eternity. To my children, whoever you hold in the heart of you, is forever and always a part of you. Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, looking back in memory will comfort you tomorrow.
