Vernon P. Gillenberger, Sr., age 87 on Saturday, October 21, 2017 of Bethel Park.
Loving husband of 64 years to Marlene (Leitl) Gillenberger.
Beloved father of Vernon P. (Carrie) Gillenberger, Jr., Robert (Susan) Gillenberger and the late Kevin R. Gillenberger and David G. Gillenberger.
Cherished grandfather of Tammy Palombia, Robert Gillenberger, Kristy Egnac, Devin Gillenberger, Amy Gillenberger and Lisa Gillenberger.
Great grandfather of Blake Egnac.
Brother of Edward Gillenberger and the late Donald Gillenberger.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Vern served in the U S Air Force during the Korean War, retired after 20 years as a City of Pittsburgh Police Officer where he patrolled his birthplace of Carrick and was Owner of Vern's Electric in Carrick.
Family and friends received Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Readshaw Funeral Home, Inc., 1503 Brownsville Road, Carrick.
Funeral Prayer Thursday at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM in St. Gabriel of The Sorrowful Virgin Church 5200 Greenridge Dr. Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
Interment with Full Military Honors in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
