Clayton Harlen Monsrud, Jr. passed away May 19, 2023 at the age of 81. Clayton was born July 14, 1941 to Clayton and Rose Monsrud in Stokes Township. He was the oldest of 13 children. Clayton attended Badger school through the 8th grade. He then stayed home to help on the farm where he raised Angora rabbits and mink. He enlisted in the US Army where he served 2 years. While stationed in Pittsburgh, PA he met the love of his life, June. They were married after his discharge and made their home there in Pittsburgh, remaining there until his death.
Clayton worked construction for 40 years. He was especially proud that he had helped build the Pittsburgh Steelers Three Rivers Stadium. Clayton was a kind soul and would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need.
Clayton is survived by siblings; Raynold (Lorraine) of Roseau, MN, Caroline Mix of Monticello, MN, LaRayne Gjovik of Roseau, MN, JoAnn O’Hara of Roseau, MN, RoseEllen (Russ) Iverson of Badger, MN, Marlene Buley of Roseau, MN, Dwight (Lori) of Hensel, ND , IvaDeen Monsrud Roseau, MN Lydel of Reno, NV, and special companion and Caretaker Helen of Pittsburgh, PA.
Clayton was preceded in death by his loving wife June, his parents, brothers Louie, twin brothers Myron and Marlowe, Brothers-in-law Ken Mix, Lyle Buley, Richard Fuller and Sister-in-law Judie Monsrud.
He now joins the love of his life June for eternity.
