An irregular exercise, I occasionally thumb through old business cards to see who I have met in past days or months that I need reach out to and re-establish a connection. "Robert F. Flannery, Jr," a card read. "Security and Life Safety Director, Corporate Real Estate Services," it continued. Immediately I was able to put a face - smiling, friendly, warm - to the name. It has been many years since I interned at Federated's Pittsburgh office but I will never forget the greeting(s) that began each day. "Hi, John. Hope all is well. How are things?" he would ask. Three years late and having rediscovered his business card, I was excited to ask him the question that I had become so accustom to: "Hello, Bob. Hope all is well. How are things?" It goes with saying that I am overwhelmed with sadness to learn of his passing. He was an incredible addition to the Federated staff and I can only imagine that his presence at 1001 Liberty Ave is missed daily. What a nice man; he earned his place in Heaven.

Happy 70th Birthday

We love you and miss you every day. It still hurts living without you. You will never be forgotten. Thinking of your smile brings us joy on the cloudy days in our lives. Recalling your laugh reminds us of the good times we shared. You are our guardian angel.

Bob was so nice to work with. He always had a smile or joke for everyone, while taking his job of keeping us safe extremely seriously. He knew everybody's name, even if he hadn't seen you for a while. He was patient, kind and helpful, and we will miss him at Federated. I was proud to be one of his "floor wardens"! My sincere condolences go to his family.
